This summer LUDWIG tours through the country, to play A Midsummer Night’s Dream in picturesque bandstands and open-air theatres in villages, cities and parks all over the Netherlands. This special covid-proof version of A Midsummernight’s Dream is intended as a small, covid-proof version of the famous play by Shakespeare and music by Mendelshon.
Shakespeare’s wonderful comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream was set to music by Mendelssohn for full sized orchestra, choir and two solo voices. LUDWIG asked composer Max Knigge to reduce the score to 10 instruments and 1 soprano. The result is a virtuoso performance by LUDWIG’s multi-talented musicians which you will not lightly forget! On 17 May, we live-streamed the entire day of rehearsals. Get a sneak preview here
